LO-FI

LO-FI

Great wines, great food, great tunes. That was the agenda of our inaugural LO-FI event, our love letter to the new wave of winemakers rippling across New Zealand. We love them, so we wanted to share them with you.

The room was buzzing! Jam-packed with winemakers from all over the country and a crowd eager to taste, learn, and connect. Amoise, Cambridge Road, Brood Fermentation, Halcyon Days, and 15 Minute Bottles were just a few of the wines on pour. Dylan Biscuit and ajhoneysuckle kept the good sounds flowing, while Kane and Bora from Someplace Somewhere cooked up hibachi sticks that hit the spot.

LO-FI was pulled together by Aroha and Jared, who spend plenty of time in Auckland’s wine bars and have spent the year forging friendships with local winemakers. That small, supportive environment came to life on the day. And while the local producers may have stolen the show, it was just as important to have suppliers pouring wines from overseas - many of whom have been practicing this natural, low-intervention way of winemaking for generations.

What stood out most was the energy. It felt like the start of a fresh era for Glengarry customers. Fun and curious, keen to get closer to winemaking and viticulture. The next generation of wine drinkers showed up for the conversation and we’re here for it!

The day was dedicated to exploring what this ever-growing category of wines has to offer, and to celebrating the community behind it all. We were lucky enough to have such a wealth of winemaking experience in the room. You could feel the passion for what they do, it was wonderful to watch the crowd listening intently to hear the story behind each bottle.

This was the first, but definitely not the last, LO-FI. We’ll be back next year, bigger, better, more wines, more good times. And who knows… you might just see us pop up before then.
